Tuesday at Light Centre Belgravia; Intuitive Therapy, Dynamic Yoga & Osteopathy

I arrived at the centre at 8am to see Sinead de Hora to have  a taster session of Intuitive Therapy. On my way to the Victoria, I was trying to think of what this might involve and I thought it would be more of a discussion based therapy and to lock into your own intuition to help you solve problems yourself. Along these lines anyway.

Sinead immediately makes you feel at ease with her warmth and huge smile. As we sat in the lovely calmly lit treatment room, she explained that we wouldn’t have a consultation but rather she would be using her own insights, intuition and reading my energy to figure out what she was going to treat and how.  This was immediately intriguing and also quite exciting to not be giving an account of my history (physical and mental) to someone who was then going to work on your mind, body and emotional well being.

I lay down and she moved her hand above my body and head. She then told me what she felt were areas that I needed working on, helping, releasing and cleansing. To be honest, she was spot on about all of them. I don’t want to give away too much as I feel that this experience will be completely different for each person and it is important to go in with an open mind. What I CAN say is it was the most transformative hour I have had in a very very long time. I felt as if energy lines around my body that had been blocked, were suddenly running free again.  I felt the most calm and positive than  I had in ages. I felt like the tasks required of me for the rest of the day were easily achievable and on top of all that, she gave a wonderful back massage!

Sinead is an Intuitive Specialisit who knew she had an ability to connect with her intuitive mind from a young age. She has had over 10 years experience in the Wellness industry, having trained in Shiatsu, Deep Tissue, Ayurvedic and Chinese Philosophies, Reflexology, Thai Yoga, Balinese, Indian Head, Pre and Post and is also a member of the Reiki Association. She is able to use all of these skills and combined with her incredibly insightful diagnosis and energy reading – she is able to give you tools to enhance the positivity in you.    Can not recommend her enough. She is at Light Centre every Tuesday mornings.

So moving on, I then attended a wonderfully challenging yoga class with Alessia Avellino. This was a very dynamic yoga class and I definitely felt like I was getting a cardiovascular workout! Alessia shared some wonderful insights as we were  doing the class and encouraged us to smile which really helped! She is also a fabulous teacher, caring about each student in the class, correcting as she went and also helping with easier or more advanced ways to do each part. She is in trained in Jivamukti but she explained that she was teaching a Dynamic Yoga for All levels. I definitely  feel that even if you had done yoga for many years, this would still be a great challenge for your stamina!  Please do come along to her class on Tuesday at 1.15pm-2.15pm. Perfect during lunchbreak!

And finally, I ended the day with a much needed visit to the Osteopath, Francesco Ricci. He was very thorough with his consultation and after numerous physical tests, he pin pointed where an area of concern was even though I didnt know it was from there! The interesting thing about him is he has a background in Martial Arts, namely Tai Chi, Chi Gong and Wing Chun. This was apparent when he gave me some exercises to help improve my rotation and twisting ability in my back. They had an element of martial arts to them, and as a dancer, that was far more interesting to do! Another highly  recommended practitioner. Francesco works on Tuesday and Fridays at The Light Centre Belgravia.

The very special thing about this place, is you can get everything under one roof! Please come and visit us soon. There are so many great offers and deals to get you started.

Monday at Light Centre Belgravia; Yin Yoga and Pilates

So, my journey at the Light Centre Belgravia continues…and I have many more treasures to tell you about. Everyday, I love this place more and more. I know that I will be learning about myself, allowing myself to take a moment out of busy life and accept who I am and how I am feeling. I don’t think there is any better luxury than this.

On Monday, I learnt a little about how the centre runs which seems to be very smoothly with the lovely Zaneta on reception. She greets the regulars like they are family and welcomes newcomers. The waiting area has beautiful daylight, comfortable sofas and delicious cleansing hot tea that never seems to run out (thank you Zaneta!) As people come in to take class they change out of their normal day clothes in the changing rooms and leave them in the lovely wooden shelves and emerge in soft, yoga and exercise gear…the uniform to making a better you! What is also lovely about this social area is that people coming out of treatments and therapies area able to discuss and share their experiences. I also noticed that teachers have built up wonderful rapport with regular students, and I often see them giving the students extra advise and tools before and after the class. This is a very caring environment as oppose to a competitive one.

I took Yin Yoga with the beautiful and warm Liz Jacobs, I had never practised Yin Yoga before and didn’t  know what to expect. This was really a moment to surrender to her wonderful words…guiding us physically and emotionally through this incredibly meditate class. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s great for all levels, it isn’t fast paced but its great for flexibility and there is much more time to reflect about your emotions and what might be winding you up and how to let go of it. This is beyond a yoga class; it is a tool for a healthier mental state.  She had some really great inspiring lines that I was trying to keep a note of in my head but now have gone!

Straight after this, I took Pilates (All levels) with Michael Munsch. He is a very popular teacher and often holds PIlates Bootcamps for a few hours on Saturdays- these are always packed out so do check the wesbite! I found his class very thorough, and I really felt I had worked top to toe. There were some regular ladies in there who were incredibly fit from this class! He is very clear in his instruction and also gives options for more advanced or easier takes on each exercise. I found this very helpful indeed and it took the pressure off…or allowed you to challenge yourself. PIlates, again is for all ages and levels and the benefits are really incredible for not just great legs and bum but also posture and breath control.

Liz Jacobs teaches Yin Yoga on Mondays at 11am and Michael teaches Pilates on Mondays at 9.30am and 12.15pm.

Please stay posted for more insights for the rest of the week!

Hope to see some of you at Light Centre Belgravia soon.

Getting to know The Light Centre Belgravia

I have just been introduced to this amazing place- Light Centre Belgravia, and have been given the chance to test out the different classes and teachers as well as some treatments and therapy. I feel this will help others to get to know what is on offer at this little haven in the middle of London. Supporting the yoga and pilates studios are a wealth of highly experienced therapists offering you every type of treatment and therapy to make a better you, a healthy, happier, calmer and mindful you. Surely this is what we all need in this day and age and especially in London.

Just a stones throw away from Victoria station, you might not even know it’s there, the best way to get to it is to get the escalators to the upper level of the station and walked past Pret a Manger, Boots, Sainsbury’s and if you can walk past it, Leon! Turn right and that is Eccleston street, which once you have crossed over the road, seems to immediately take you out of the hustle and bustle and into the warm feeling of a London village. It is number 9 and is below the much popular cafe Crush (which incidentally you get a 10% discount on when you buy a monthly course). This is also very attractive as they offer a plethora of smoothies, juices, boosters and healthy snacks from scrambled eggs in a pot for breakfast, chia seed pudding, avocado and quinoa and wheatgrass. What else could you want before or after your visit to the Light Centre?

Last week on Thursday, I had my first class with Catia, she was teaching what is described as All Levels yoga which meant that there were varying degrees of yogis in the class, but all who had at least practised before. After the class, she explained that it was based on a Vinyasa Flow Class. What struck me to begin with was the different age groups in the class…and believe me it wasn’t always the younger ones who were better at getting into the poses, holding the poses or even balancing!

I found her class simultaneously challenging, holistic, positive with a great balance between strenuous and relaxing. She is a fantastic teacher who makes every person in the class feel cared for. This is exactly what I want from a yoga class!

Afterwards I was able to take a few short videos and pictures

Catia teaches on Thursdays at 1.15pm and Fridays at 7.30pm! Why not come down this week?

Please check out my blog for some more experiences this week of the amazing therapies, treatments and classes at Light Centre Belgravia!
